Communities across the U.S. are
grappling with veterans’ reintegration issues as local communities become the
new “home base” for veterans and their families. Pierce County is no
different. JBLM is expected a normal
transition of 6,000 service members out of the military each year for the next
four years. The Dept. of Veterans
Affairs has projected that nationwide an estimated 13,000 veterans per year who
are leaving the service have a desire to locate in Washington through
2016. The proposed solution is a
community-based coordinating entity with access to workforce and social
services through community partnerships and outreach.
